What is IPL? 

What is the full form of IPL? Indian Premier League. ... At the same time eight teams take part in it, which represent eight different states of India.

History of IPL

The Indian Cricket League was established in 2007 with funds provided by Zee Entertainment Enterprises. In early 2008, the BCCI announced the launch of the Indian Premier League, a new franchise-based Twenty20 league. The league will be based on the Premier League in England and the NBA in the United States.In order to decide the owners for the new league, an auction was held on January 24, 2008, with a total base value of around $ 400 million costing the franchise. 

At the end of the auction, the winning bidders were announced, as well as the cities to be based in the team: Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mohali, and Mumbai. In the end, the franchise was all sold for a total of $ 723,59 million.

The IPL (Indian Premier League) is a T20 league that takes place every year in our country and players from other countries including India also participate in this league. Teams participating in this league of cricket represent Indian cities or states. Matches are played between these teams and the team that wins at the end is given that reward.

The opening match of the IPL will be played on March 29 March 2020 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The opening match of the IPL 2020 will be between the defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.

About IPL Teams

1.Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)  :- 

Kolkata Knightrider is one of the well-known IPL teams. This team represents Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal in this league. The number of fans of this team is very high, one of the reasons is the stardom of the franchise of this team. The franchise of this team is Bollywood's famous star Shahrukh Khan. The home ground of this team is the Eden Gardens, the stadium that counts in the main stadium of India. At the beginning of the IPL, this team was formed in 2008 with the remaining IPL teams. 

This year the team had to spend a total of $ 75.09 million for its owner. Since then, this team has remained in the IPL continuously and till now has won the title of IPL twice. Held in the first IPL in 2008, the team had to be eliminated during the group stage matches. This time this team was not able to perform anything special. After this, in the second and third IPL, he had to get out of the group stage.

This time, this team was considered to be the weakest team in the IPL.The first three seasons proved to be very bad for KKR. KKR lost in the semi-finals in the first season. 2. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) :- 

The Indian Premier League has a Chennai-based franchise. The captain of the Indian cricket team from 2008 to 2015 was Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team and Stephen Fleming, the former captain of the New Zealand cricket team.Due to spot fixing in 2014, the team has been banned for 2 years due to which the team could not participate in the 2014 and 2014 IPL. Rising Pune Supergiants played in the Indian Premier League in place of Chennai Super Kings, whose captain was also Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

3. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) :-

Royal Challengers Bangalore is a popular franchise of the Indian Premier League and one of the most admired teams in the world. Many high profile players from this team have played, including Anil Kumble, Shane Watson, AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and Daniel Vettori. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore is the home stadium of RCB.
This team has two important records, the first record is the highest score in IPL history made against Pune Warriors India in 2013 and the second is just 49 runs against KKR.
However, Virat Kohli will lead Bangalore for IPL season 2019.After finishing seventh in the first season, RCB traveled to the finals the following season but unfortunately lost to the Deccan Chargers in the final. Subsequently in the IPL season 2010, RCB changed the logo of the team and also became the first IPL team to adopt different jerseys for domestic and outdoor matches.

This team became the most popular team due to the presence of a powerful hitter like Chris Gayle at RCB. Who can forget Gayle's stormy innings of 175 runs against Pune Warriors. RCB season 2016 was considered to be a strong contender for the title but regrettably Virat Sena could not remove the tag of chokers on him and was runner-up once again.

4. Kings XI Punjab( KXIP) :-

The Kings XI Punjab team has been an important part of the IPL since the beginning. The home ground of this team is IS Bindra Stadium Mohali, however some of its matches are also held at HPCA Stadium Dharamshala. From the beginning of IPL till today, this team has failed to win this tournament. In the IPL 2014, Punjab reached the final where they lost to KKR. Yuvraj Singh, Kumar Sangakkara, Virender Sehwag, Adam Gilchrist and Glenn Maxwell have been part of this team.

The team is owned by KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited. The company shares with Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, businessman Ness Wadia, Mohit Burman and Karan Paul. This team played its first match against Chennai Super Kings and its first win was against Mumbai Indians Kings XI Punjab has not won a single IPL title till date. This team gave the best performance in the year 2014. That year Punjab topped the league table with 11 wins from 14 matches.

The team also reached the final of the IPL under the leadership of George Bailey. In 2008, the Punjab team had a semi-final journey, where they were defeated by Chennai Super Kings by 9 wickets. Piyush Chawla has played the most matches for this team. From 2008 to 2013, Piyush has played 87 matches while in the Punjab team and has taken 84 wickets for this team.

5. Delhi Capitals (DC) :- 

Delhi Capitals participates in the Indian Premier League, the professional T20 cricket league held every year in India. The name of this team shows that it represents the city of Delhi. These teams play their home matches at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground in Delhi and the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh. Although Delhi has not been able to win the IPL title till date, but has managed to make the semi-finals in two seasons 2008 and 2009.

Virender Sehwag led the team in the first season of IPL. He proved to be the iconic face for the team, scoring 2382 runs in 86 matches with a strike rate of 158.37 for the team. Australian player David Warner was another important Delhi opener. With a strike rate of 132.84, he teamed with Sehwag and smashed the opposing teams. Gautam Gambhir, who became the captain of the team in 2009, also had many big partnerships with Sehwag. Gambhir's brilliant stroke and Sehwag's aggressive batting made Delhi's opening partnership stand out. Apart from this, he also had batsmen like AB de Villiers and JP Duminy from whom other teams used to take awe because of their explosive batting.

6. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) :-

Sunrisers Hyderabad (also called SRH) is the Hyderabad franchise of the Indian Premier League. The captain of this team is Ken Williamson and coach Tom Moody. Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise is owned by Sun Network owner Kalanithi Maran. The team's current home ground is the Rajiv Gandhi.

International Cricket Stadium. The first team captain for the 2014 Indian Premier League was made David Warner but he was banned for a year by Cricket Australia in the ball tampering case which led to the change of captain. Sunrisers Hyderabad is one of the strongest cricket teams of Indian Premier League. It is a franchise cricket team like other IPL teams.

The team was formed in 2012 after Hyderabad Deccan Chargers withdrew from the IPL. This team was seen during the 2013 play offs. In 2016, this team defeated the Royal Challengers and took the title of IPL. Currently, this team is playing its cricket under the captaincy of David Warner, whose coach is Tom Moody. Tom Moody was an Australian team player. The domestic ground of this team is the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.

7. Mumbai Indians (MI) :-

Mumbai Indians is the most successful team in the IPL. ... Rohit Sharma is currently captained by Mumbai Indians. Mahela Jayawardene has been appointed as the head coach of the Mumbai Indians from the 2017 season. Sharma is the leading run scorer of the team while Lasith Malinga is the leading wicket taker of both the team and the IPL.The team is owned by Reliance Industries, India's largest industry conglomerate.

It was the most expensive team in the tournament during the opening season of the IPL. Today, its brand value is approximately US $ 44.62 million. There has always been a balance of young and experienced players in this team. Senior players like Sachin, Harbhajan, Rohit, Malinga as well as young champs like Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Jose Butler have been increasing the strength of this team.

Mumbai is the first team in the IPL to have won 100 T20 matches. This team has won 58.28 matches. Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma is third in the IPL in terms of runs, and he has hit the most sixes. The bowler of this team, Lasith Malinga has taken the most wickets in the IPL.

8.Rajasthan Royals (RR) :- 

Rajasthan Royals is one of the 8 teams that have been a part of this tournament since the beginning of IPL. The home ground of this team is Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Some of its matches are also held at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad. Rajasthan Royals won the first IPL title which was played in 2008. 

Led by Shane Watson, this team defeated Chennai Super Kings in the first IPL final. Rajasthan Royals is owned by Manoj Badale, besides Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty is its co-owner. This team has given a chance to young players from the beginning. Initially, the Indian media had undermined this team, but the Rajasthan players proved it wrong. 

The team reached the Champions League T20 final in 2013 after winning the first IPL title in 2008, where they lost to Mumbai. The team is captained by Shane Watson, Ajinkya Rahane, Shane Warne and Rahul Dravid. Shane Watson has played 74 matches for this team, scoring 2127 runs and taking 61 wickets.
